The Volvo Ocean Race Begins!

The Newport Shipyard team is excited to watch the 1st leg of the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race that started on Saturday, October 11 in Alicante, Spain. It's no secret that we are cheering for our unofficial 'hometown' team, Team Alvimedica, since there are four local sailors onboard including our own Nick Dana. We are also proud to have hosted the Team Alvimedica naming ceremony that past June.

There are nine legs during the 38,739 nautical mile around-the-world race and we all look forward to seeing the seven teams when they arrive in Newport, RI in May of 2015. Following the VOR is fun and there are many ways to keep up on the action:
