Belle's Cafe Re-Opens for the Season!
Belle's Cafe at Newport Shipyard opened for full service on May 15 and will be serving breakfast and lunch seven days a week all summer long. Following renovations in 2012 that included upgraded kitchen appliances, a new picture window inside the cafe and expanded seating under custom-made tents outside, there has never been a better time to eat at Belle's. The food also continues to get rave reviews, and chefs Allen and Becky have revamped the menu to include new dishes to go along with traditional favorites and their ever-popular daily specials. Now you'll find a Crab-cake Sandwich and Panko-Crusted Chicken alongside such staples as Belle's Burger, the Yardbird, and, of course, the best Lobster Rolls this side of Maine!
Belle's has become a popular casual dining destination frequented by yachties, locals and visitors "in the know." Now in its eighth year of operation, Belle's has been featured in local magazines and yacht guides where it was praised both for the quality of its fare and the unique vibe that comes with being a part of a working shipyard and marina. As one of the few true harbour-front restaurants in Newport, Belle's Cafe offers stunning views of Narragansett Bay and Newport Pell Bridge. It's also about the only place you can watch an elite race-crew prepare a J-Boat for the day's regatta or a captain steer a 200-ft superyacht expertly into its berth ... all over a plate of bacon and eggs cooked to perfection.
Chef Allen, known to his many followers inside the ring as "Jason Blade", is relieved to take a rest from his professional wrestling career and focus on a less hazardous means of employment. "The most abuse I take around here is if I put too much lemon in the salad dressing, or not enough. Charlie is really picky about that ... but, then again, his restaurant credentials are a bit dubious."
